VoxelVerse Browser Music
Privacy Policy

What this extension does

VoxelVerse Browser Music connects an authorized browser tab to the VoxelVerse macOS app on the same computer. It supplies the current music or video information and playback timing so that the app can display lyrics in time with playback. The extension requires the companion Mac app to provide this feature.

Information handled by the extension

The extension does not record microphone audio, capture the screen, read comments or the full page body, record typed text, or use the browser history API. It does not send full page URLs or browsing-history logs to the Mac app.

How information is used and transmitted

The extension uses this information for pairing, checking the local connection, selecting the intended music session, and keeping the app's lyric timing synchronized. Its network requests go to the VoxelVerse app at http://127.0.0.1:43821, a loopback address on your own computer. The extension includes the pairing token in local authenticated requests and omits website cookies. It does not send playback information to a publisher-operated cloud server.

The extension's current implementation contains no advertising or analytics service and downloads no executable extension code.

Online lyric lookup by the separate Mac app

The VoxelVerse Mac app can use the received music information to find matching lyrics. Its current implementation queries NetEase Music (music.163.com), AMLL (api.amll.dev), and LRCLIB (lrclib.net). It may also query Apple/iTunes catalog metadata (itunes.apple.com) to verify a recording.

These HTTPS requests include the song title and artist, duration where supported, or relevant catalog identifiers. The providers also receive ordinary connection information such as the request IP address and user agent. Their own privacy practices apply to their handling of these requests. The extension itself does not call these providers. This feature uses player information and timing; it does not upload an audio recording for recognition or transcription.

Site permissions and your choices

YouTube and YouTube Music are supported by the extension's declared site access. To connect another music website, you click the extension action and approve access to that specific site. The extension requests only that chosen origin at runtime. You can remove additional authorized sites in extension settings or manage site access in the browser's extension settings.

You can disable playback synchronization, clear the saved pairing code, disable or uninstall the extension, or turn off Browser Music in the Mac app. Clearing the saved code removes the extension's local pairing token; pairing again in the Mac app can replace the app's previous token.

Local storage and retention

The extension stores its pairing token and enabled preference in local extension storage. Access to the token is restricted to trusted extension contexts. Recent playback state and the selected tab are held in browser session storage so that the service worker can resume after it restarts. This state is not stored through Chrome cloud sync. Playback samples older than five seconds are excluded from active session selection, although that freshness limit is not a guarantee of immediate physical deletion from browser storage.

The Mac app stores its own pairing token and can cache downloaded lyrics locally under your macOS Application Support folder. Its current lyric cache has no automatic time-based expiry. Disabling playback does not erase previously cached lyrics. For help removing app data, contact us at the address below.
